Citation tracking

Understand which sources shape AI answers for your category—and how your brand shows up—by tracking citations across AI platforms with Scrunch.

Scrunch automatically records every URL cited by AI platforms for your tracked prompts. You can analyze citations at both the domain and URL level, filter by the segments that matter to you, and drill down to see exactly how those sources influence the AI response.

What you can track

You can also monitor specific URLs without any manual submission—Scrunch captures and logs every cited URL automatically. Learn more in the FAQ on monitoring specific URLs.

Track across multiple AI models

Scrunch provides multi-LLM coverage so you can see which sources are cited—and how those citations affect the answer—on each platform you care about. You can filter and analyze by platform and drill into prompt variants per model.

Currently supported platforms include ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Meta AI, and Microsoft Copilot. Support for Grok is coming soon. See the full list in Which AI platforms and LLMs can Scrunch track and monitor?

How Scrunch measures impact on brand visibility

Use Citations and Prompts Monitoring together to connect sources to outcomes:

This pairing shows not just who gets cited, but how those citations affect your brand’s visibility versus competitors across different AI models and regions, with the context of personas, funnel stages, and topics.

What Scrunch tracks that traditional SEO tools don’t

Traditional SEO tools focus on rankings, backlinks, and SERP features. Scrunch is built for AI search and tracks what influences LLM answers:

These AI-native analytics help you decide whether to pursue mentions in third-party sources, update existing content, or create new pages to win citations—and where those efforts will pay off fastest.

Quick start

  1. Add your brand, website, alternate domains/subdomains, competitors, personas, and key topics to Scrunch.
  2. Add prompts to track (or let Scrunch generate them).
  3. Open the Citations tab to see top domains, owners (brand/third-party/competitor), and the full citation list by domain or URL.
  4. Drill down to any URL to view the prompts and responses citing it, then jump into the related prompt in Prompts Monitoring to see the full AI answer and competitive context.
  5. Use filters (AI platform, topic, persona, funnel stage, country, branded/non-branded, and more) and the date selector to spot patterns and prioritize actions.

If key URLs aren’t being cited, ensure AI crawlers can access them, pages load without requiring JavaScript, metadata is present, and content fully answers target prompts. Consider enabling AXP to automatically deliver AI-optimized content to visiting agents.
